CHASE C. RUTHERFORD

Chase was born and raised in Chillicothe, Ohio. A graduate of Chillicothe High School Chase spent an equal amount of time in the wrestling room and the art classroom. A former sailor stationed in Port Hueneme California. He was attached to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four and promoted to Petty Officer Second Class just prior to his second deployment to Afghanistan. Returning home to Ohio Chase finished his Bachelors at Ohio University and then went on to Capital Law School.

Chase enjoys the outdoor amenities of living in Chillicothe whether running the woods or paddling down through the shoots with his American Bulldog Rico Suave. Chase can often be seen riding a skateboard to the courthouse, a board which he has dubbed the “courtroom cruiser”. Chase’s favorite spots in downtown Chillicothe are Carl’s Townhouse and Sweet William Blossom Boutique.

Rutherford Law Office has been locally owned and operated for two decades. Attorney Sherri Rutherford practices extensively in the area of Elder Law and Estate Planning for seniors. She believes in using a comprehensive approach for her clients to devise a complete estate plan.

Her areas of practice involve the use of Wills and Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Health Care documents, Deeds and Nursing Home/ Long Term Care planning, to insure her clients’ needs and wishes are met. She practices frequently in matters of Probate Administration, Guardianship, and Trust Administration.

Attorney Rutherford is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association committees on Elder Law and Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law. She frequently speaks about issues of Elder Law to such groups as the AARP, Teachers Retirement, Public Employees Retirement System, Senior Citizens Center, Alzheimer’s Group and Kiwanis. She was the host of the radio show “Rutherford’s Elder Law Workshop” on station WCHI. Attorney Rutherford served on the Board of Trustees for the Area Agency on Aging District 7.

Attorney Rutherford served on Ross County’s Senior Abuse Task Force and worked on the planning committee that brought a spring conference to Chillicothe. Attorney Rutherford assisted the Ross County Senior Advisory Council in obtaining a 501(c)(3), non-profit tax status. She was responsible for obtaining the same tax status for the local SALT (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) Council.

In addition, she has served the citizens of Ross County as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney as well as Assistant Law Director for the City of Chillicothe. She is a former Law Director for the City of Chillicothe, as well as a former adjunct professor for Ohio University, teaching in the areas of law and police technology. 

Attorney Rutherford completed her undergraduate studies at Ohio University and Juris Doctor from Capital University. She lives with her husband, Ronnie. They raised three sons in Chillicothe and are enjoying being grandparents.
